Our vision is that everything we do will help to ensure that across the lakes are rich in wildflowers, supporting a diversity of wildlife and habitats for everyone to enjoy.
Our mission is to provide a habitat and reverse the decline of wildlife.
By achieving these goals we will help create a healthier environment in which we can all live.
To ensure that any projects we deliver help us to achieve our vision and aims, and build on best practice developed throughout the organisation, we have implemented a system where all new projects are made up of a combination of themes.
Habitat management – we learn how to manage the land to encourage and safeguard wildlife, whilst developing practical conservation, habitat monitoring and recording skills.
Education – encourage participation in surveys. People of all ages and abilities can learn about wildlife, conservation and environment here at the lakes, and how to duplicate in there own gardens
Gardens – Gardens provide vital oases for wildlife, therefore raising awareness about the simple steps people can take to improve their gardens’ friendliness.
Communities – The opportunity for communities to come together, in their own wildlife-friendly greenspaces, and learn about wildlife through talks, guided safari walks and interactive information exhibits.
schools – Encouraging more young people to study science, especially entomology and ecology is essential to securing the future of wildlife science. working with schools aims to excite young people about nature and increase knowledge about where our food actually comes from.
tourism and leisure – Through tapping into existing tourist and leisure activities (or creating our own) our work engages new audiences with wildlife.
Well bee-ing – Exposure to the natural environment and outdoor recreation has been proven to have a positive effect on human health, increase quality of life and heighten social interaction. Our activities in this area benefit wildlife by working with people who are experiencing social exclusion, though learning disabilities, mental health issues or unemployment.
